Just you and your thoughts

HELLO, IT'S NICE TO HAVE YOU HERE

Why nuga?

Sometimes a single journal entry can bring back an entire season of life. nuga is simply a place to capture those thoughts and revisit them later. Just a quiet space to write things down without overthinking it.

A minimalist and serene overhead shot of a light-colored journal on a pristine white desk.

NEXT

Tap a date.

From the home page, tap any date in the Journal Calendar. Today, last Friday, the day your friend got married, or three months from now.

Each date opens its own journal page. If you've written there before, your entries reappear ready to continue. If you haven't, you get a fresh page waiting for you.

03

THEN

Write or speak.

Type into the bar at the bottom. Tap the mic to dictate — voice-to-text runs entirely on your device. Tap send and your thought becomes a bubble.

Switch to Guided mode and pick a guide; nuga will surface prompts you can answer one at a time. Use the chevron to advance, the mic to dictate, and the paper plane to send.

FAQs

Yes! nuga is completely free to use. No ads, no subscriptions, and none of that annoying stuff. This is a little passion project of mine, built simply because I love journaling. I genuinely hope you enjoy using it as much as I've enjoyed creating it.

No account required. Just download and start writing. Super simple.

Your journal stays entirely on your device. Your thoughts are all yours! Because everything is stored locally, nuga works completely offline too - whether you're on a plane, off the grid, or taking time away on a quiet retreat

Absolutely! You have full control over your data and can clear your history at any time.

Journal prompts are just simple questions to help get you writing when you're not sure where to start. The prompts in nuga are a mix of questions I've personally found helpful over the years, prompts I've come across online, and a few I've made up myself. They're not meant to be anything formal or therapeutic - just light little ideas to get your thoughts flowing. Take what you like, leave what you don't.

I'd love to hear from you. Feel free to get in touch via social media or email!

Maybe! nuga is something I work on in my spare time, and I'm always open to ideas that help make journaling more enjoyable.

Portrait of Era, the creator of nuga.

Hi, I'm Era 👋

The creator behind nuga

I'm a software product manager, runner, and avid journal-er based in sunny Brisbane.

I've always found that writing things down helps me slow down and think more clearly. And remember not just the big milestones, but the small things too.

• A conversation that stayed with me.

• Something I learned.

• A challenge I overcame.

• A prayer that was answered.

• A thought I didn't want to lose.

Over time, I've realised how much growth can happen in a few weeks or months. Reading old journal entries has a way of showing you how far you've come when you don't notice it day to day.

nuga grew from that idea. It's simply a place to pause, reflect, and leave a little breadcrumb trail for your future self.

"I hope nuga becomes a gentle companion on your journey, holding your thoughts until you're ready to look back."
